Free New York’s Four-Part Action Plan
to Reduce Property Taxes

Our job:
-
Increase public awareness. We are doing that through a $10,000 advertising campaign involving billboards, television, radio and the internet. Our first billboard went up recently on
Transit Road in Lockport. Here it is:
-
Unless we wish to see Buffalo continue to drift towards economic oblivion, drastic changes need to be made, now. Those changes need to be formulated and presented by a new research
organization or think tank that is completely independent of the present power structure. Only then will true solutions become apparent to the public.

-
Specific proposals for real change. Our 19 policy studies present many specific proposals that, if enacted, would immediately cut property taxes substantially. Other studies explain the
importance of creating a truly free market economynot the “crony capitalism” many of our big business leaders supportthat would create good jobs while cutting the
cost of living and boosting property values.
-
Altogether, our studies, including News Alerts and Policy Reports, call for:
-
Major structural reform of government;
-
Ending gerrymandering;
-
The elimination of corporate welfare;
-
The elimination of 1403 government agencies;
-
Pending cuts of $9.3 billion statewide and $147 million locally; and
-
The equalization of private and public sector wages (28 percent higher), a proposal that would transform politics as we know it.
Of particular importance for cutting property taxes are these proposals:
-
Merging school districts into municipal governments (News Alert No. 14);
-
Equalizing private and public sector wages (Policy Report No. 2);
-
Abolishing IDAs (News Alert No. 10)
-
Eliminating corporate welfare (Policy Report No. 4)
With your continued support, we can issue many more such proposals in the coming year.
Your job:
-
Lobbying your elected officials. Free NY is limited by law from devoting a substantial portion of its resources on lobbying. However, you are not. It’s up to you to take our ideas
to your elected officials and urge their adoption. There is also a new citizen’s lobbying group, the New York State Taxpayers Union, that is working to reduce property taxes in
Albany.
-
Supporting candidates for public office who support our agenda. Free NY is barred from political activity by law. You, however, are not. Please exercise your right to support candidates
who are committed to support specific proposals for real change. You can find such groups by using the search engine, Google.
By working together, we can win this fight to drastically reduce property taxes, revive the economy and increase the value of our properties.
It’s up to all of us.
